Semesterized Block Schedule
What would everyone think of a semesterized block schedule. This is when you would have four 86-minute classes a day (like now) but no A/B day. Instead, you would take a set of four classes every single day for one semester, and then take another four classes the second semester. Thoughts?

it wouldnt work for most AP classes. That leaves around a 3 to 4 month gap between most classes and the day of its test.
Plus you would be a little rushed second semester since you have to cover the entire course in about a marking period and a half.

I don't necessarily like that idea, because then we would have a shorage of electives, right? And I personally enjoy my electives! I lear a lot in those classes!

I think that we should have more block periods a day because I know by fourth period of been sitting so long I'm practically asleep :( .

Another point that I haven't seen anyone address yet is year-round music classes.
Band, strings, and chorus need to rehearse all year -- could you play in a group where only half the students played in the beginning of the year and the other half played at the end?
I'd like to know how this would be addressed.

Students in music classes would continue to take them all year. However, this would mean that music students would, in effect, spend two periods out of a possible eight each year on music instead of just one like we do now.

I have this at my new school and it works really well. You get four total electives each year and four core classes. It's a great idea.

It wouldn't work as well in the high schools. Espesially for Ap courses.

It does ill be taking World History AP class next year and its in one semester and some like Calculas is Calculas AB which means u take it both semesters

it so works bc students can take their core class but if ap they can take it next sem. straight foward works!!!!

starting next year for me in middle school social studies and science is already gonna change to an Blue/White day. AKA A/B.
